BEK Consulting as a company began in 2013 when Lonnie Kern’s brothers, who were working in homebuilding in the Dickinson area at the time, saw a need for an excavation contractor. For the first year, BEK was digging basements for new construction houses. Prior to starting his own venture, Lonnie had spent the majority of his career in various parts of the United States working in the underground utility industry. Wanting to get back to his roots, he soon branched into the water and sewer services for new construction as well; and the projects kept coming from there.
From there the company continued to grow; Lonnie quipped that “in the 12 years we have been a company, BEK has outgrown 4 offices. As soon as we move into one we outgrow it almost right away!” Despite this, BEK is still a family company. Lonnie knows all of the employees’ names and makes an effort to get to know them personally. This smaller size also helps keep employees accountable to each other and allows better relationships with our customers.
BEK continues to provide quality work for the residents, municipalities, and water authorities in the Western North Dakota/ Eastern Montana area. BEK can handle and has handled a large number of projects for both big and small customers in our area of operation. From water service repairs to large diameter transmission lines and everything in between, BEK Consulting will be able to handle anything you can throw at us!
